Green Technology (Part 1)



At present, peoples from all around the globe are talking about the green technology. From the kindergarten kids to high-ranked executives as well as our major world leaders chatting the technology that associated to our mother nature. What is really this "green technology"?

Actually, the green technology is strictly not refers to the color of the technology itself. Generally speaking, the term "green" here is possibly refer to the technology development by not harming the earth. The real deal is not as easy as to define it. On paper, this concept seems very much easier to be implemented but to promote it into the real world would be something much more challenging.

Commencing today, I will share some information with the viewer to get a clear picture on what is really this green technology could ever take. This post is my point of view based on the findings that available in the internet. The author beg for forgiveness for any inaccurate information and you are most welcome for the aid.



What is "Green Technology"?
Green technology is the development and application of products, equipment and systems used to conserve the natural environment and resources, which minimizes and reduces the negative impact of human activities.


Criteria of Green Technology
A technology that claim to be the green first must be comply with this following criteria:
  • It minimizes the degradation of the environment;
  • It has a zero or low green house gases (GHG) emission;
  • It is safe for use and promotes healthy and improved environment for all forms of life;
  • It conserves the use of energy and natural resources; and
  • It promotes the use of renewable resources.
Why Green Technology?
The barking mad in need of green technology nowadays due to:
  • solve the problems of destruction of the environment and natural resources;
  • increase health levels and the quality of life;
  • conserve the ecosystem as well as costs to the government in overcoming the negative effects from the development; and
  • an alternative to improving the national economy without harming the environment.

Our Government Initiatives
Malaysia is well-known as a country without no doubt that always support any events that lead to global environment issue and the promoting of green technology is one of the primary agenda as well.

In April 2009, the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water was established in a cabinet reshuffle to replace the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications. To tighten our commitment towards applying and promoting the green technology , The National Green Technology Policy (NGTP) was launched by the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia on 24 July 2009.

This policy stated that the Green Technology shall be a driver to accelerate the national economy and promote sustainable development. NGTP is formulated based on 4(FOUR) PILLARS:

1. Energy
Seek to attain energy independence and promote efficient utilization.

2. Environment
Conserve and minimize the impact on the environment.

3. Economy
Enhance the national economic development through the use of technology.

4. Social
Improve the quality of life for all.
